Repo Man (1984)

Utter 80s chaos, all over the place, unexpected and unexplained twists and turns.

That first scene of the Malibu and cop checking out the boot has stuck with me since I first saw this and is still one of the better openers of any film, really sets the tone straight away.

The life of a repo man is always intense.

It couldn’t have been better! I was so unsure whether this would still hold up but it definitely did and I loved every minute of it.

Half the time the characters didn’t play their expected personas, swapped from one group allegiance to another, acted like a plank of wood, seemed to just go off it for a while, but the whole was so much better than it really deserves to be.

Both Emilio Estevez and Harry Dean Stanton gave weird performances, but again it seemed to hold together.

There really was something of the am dram about this, and for that I’ll always love it.

Look at those a**holes, ordinary f*cking people. I hate ’em.

Weird glowing cars, metal handed secret agents, characters that popped up then disappeared, it really was chaos and it is hard to describe it as anything but a symphony of chaos that was supported with a great soundtrack, punk, mexicana, surf, grindhouse, it had it all.

Will probably watch it again quite soon as it was pure fun.
