Being delivered as sheep onto the road to their doom is such a great first scene.

I saw this in the cinema when it first came out and not long before I moved down to Yorkshire, and I remember the hospitable silence of The Slaughtered Lamb so, so well.

I’m always worried when I rewatch an old favourite (not watched this for about ten years now) that it will finally not hold up.

A naked American man stole my balloons.

No need to worry about that here as the physical effects are still really good though aged, but more than that the storytelling cracks along at a good pace and keeps you enthralled throughout.

Full of gallows humour and the acting often harks back to the earlier eras of horror cinema. Played straight, very straight and at times almost wooden but this all adds to the humour of the piece, especially the investigative figure of Dr. Hirsch.

This is full of actors who were or were going to be mainstays of British film and television, and I think for the first time I noticed Rick Mayall was in The Slaughtered Lamb.

You have very beautiful sheep.

Absolutely loved the rewatch, and so happy that it still holds up after 40+ years.
